How do I use suppositories while on my period or using a tampon/menstrual cup?

You can use Hazel Suppositories during your period, though some people prefer to use the suppositories rectally during active bleeding. If you’re using a tampon or menstrual cup, it’s best to remove it before inserting the suppository. This helps ensure the medication can be properly absorbed through the vaginal lining and isn’t blocked or displaced by the device.

Many participants choose to use a pad afterwards to manage any mild leakage as the suppository melts. If you'd like to reinsert a tampon or menstrual cup, we recommend waiting at least 30 minutes to give the active ingredients time to begin absorbing. Inserting something too soon may interfere with how much of the medication is absorbed or how well it stays in place.
