Kara’s passion for women’s health began early – shaped by her love of sport and curiosity about how food, movement and mindset influence how we feel day to day. That curiosity led her from personal training to degrees in sport and exercise science, and eventually, to a career in dietetics.
After working for several years as a specialist diabetes dietitian across weight management and type 2 diabetes clinics, Kara realised that traditional “eat less, move more” advice often fell short, and sometimes did more harm than good.
This realisation led her to pursue further training in behaviour change and intuitive eating, exploring how deeply our thoughts, emotions and beliefs influence our relationship with food and our bodies.
Motivated by her own experience of dismissive postnatal care and seeing friends’ endometriosis minimised, Kara is committed to creating a more compassionate and supportive space for women in healthcare.
At Hazel, she helps women at every stage of life feel understood, confident and cared for through evidence-based nutrition support that meets them where they are.
Outside of work, Kara’s happiest in the fresh air – camping, swimming in the sea, or chasing after teenagers at touch rugby.
She loves life’s slower moments too: sharing tea and toast in bed, baking cakes with her daughter, and walks with her Kelpie, Kyffin.
