Dr Melissa

Dr Melissa Catanzarite, is a passionate doctor with a special interest in women’s health, complex trauma, integrative medicine and mental health. Having endometriosis herself, she has a deep understanding of women’s gynaecological and reproductive conditions and is driven by her belief in equitable healthcare.

Dr Melissa’s career has spanned multiple countries and continents. Beginning at eighteen when she became a paramedic in Southern California working on the border of California and Mexico. After this moving experience, she was inspired to create meaningful change by studying medicine at Deakin University.

Her passion for adventure led her to emergency medicine for a few years, but she soon found effective change needed to come from long term meaningful solutions. She believes that our personal health is directly tied to the health of our communities and feels passionate about building an equitable society. She has long been a strong advocate of treating patients holistically, merging conventional and natural medicine with lifestyle modifications to improve a patient’s quality of life.

Melissa is a strong advocate for marginalised women’s voices with an interest in working with survivors of sexual assault, interpersonal violence and complex trauma. She is not only dedicated to women's health but also deeply passionate about addressing the gender pain gap. She is committed to ensuring that women receive the care and attention they deserve when it comes to managing and treating pain.

When Dr Melissa isn't working, she is most happy out in the paddock with her gumboots on and her three dogs beside her on the hobby farm she has with her partner in Tasmania.

what patients are saying
I just want to thank [Dr Melissa] for being so understanding of women’s health, and so easy to talk to. It’s so hard finding doctors that understand and I really appreciate her time and expertise.

"Dr Melissa was very informative and explained everything in everyday terms. Lovely lady and listened without rushing me."
